Choosing A Website Designer During The Recession
« on: December 25, 2011, 09:14:43 PM »
Under normal circumstances, choosing a website designer would involve a quick internet search to find 2-3 local designers, checking their portfolio for experience and meeting up to chat through ideas.

However as the recession is putting pressure on businesses to save cost, there does need to be extra measures put in place.

The issue that many businesses face however is that cost is the main factor that is holding back moving ahead. UK website designers can be quite expensive (when compared to other options like overseas companies) and there are always added costs to consider. Hosting fees, development costs, advertising costs all add to the cost of the website, so it is not just the initial design, it is the extras also.

The main thing to consider when looking at different website designers is that they are profit making businesses, they need to be to cover things such as houses, cars, holidays and the running costs of the business. For this reason, shopping around is important (rather than making a snap decision).

The recession has caused many businesses to ask the question 'are we getting value for money' so a meeting is very helpful in order to find out what kind of designer they are.

I think that once the initial irritated of the downturn moves organizations will once again begin to look at reasonable tips on how to getting new clients and to decrease the price. The web is suitable for this so this is where they will convert.Web style organizations and web developers will need to be able to provide some web promotion capability for the websites that are looking at promotion.

The recession has caused many businesses to ask the question 'are we getting value for money' so a meeting is very helpful in order to find out what kind of designer they are.

Ask For Referrals

Normally looking at testimonials on a company's website is standard practice, but how do you know they are real?

During the recession you need to ensure that the web designer is able to produce a high quality website and offer top support. By talking to some of their current clients and asking them about the experience should give a good impression as to how good they are and if they are worth investment.

Compare Website Designers

We live in a world of price comparison, for products ranging from food to car insurance. Shopping around and reviewing website designers is really not that much different to comparing any other comodity. All designers are different, some have spent years designing and have a lifetime of experience to offer (at a price) and some are straight out of college creating budget websites.
