Wii Fit continues to sell strongly a year after its release in western markets. As a result, the game has topped 20 million units in sell-through worldwide. Only 9 other titles have sold over 20m.
As of the week ending June 7, 2009 over 20 million Wii users have purchased Nintendo’s hit exercise title Wii Fit. The game has sold almost 3.5 million units in Japan since launching in December 2007 as of June 7. This is in addition to nearly 8.4m units in the Americas after launching in the third week of May 2008. Through the first week of June, the game has sold another 8.3m units in ‘Others’ (mostly Europe) since launching in April 2008.
At a price of 70 Pounds ($115) in the UK, 80 Euros ($112) in the European Union, $90 in the United States and 8800 Yen ($91) in Japan for most of its shelf life, the game has grossed roughly $1.9 billion dollars in revenue. Throw in sales for Australia and other small markets and the game is even closer to earning $2 billion.
